STORY OF KOF XIII
Magaki was vanquished, slain by Shion's spear. Shion himself disappeared into a dimensional rift.
But even then, as if in mockery of Heidern and his team's investigative efforts, the remaining members of "Those from the Past" suddenly appear. What is this distant past they speak of? And why do they desire the power of Orochi?
Meanwhile, Ash Crimson defeated Iori Yagami. Ignoring Elisabeth's attempts to stop him, he harnessed his fallen opponent's powers—adding it to those which he obtained from Chizuru Kagura.
Yata was out of the picture, and Yasakani had been brought to ruin. Only one of the Three Sacred Treasures remained: the Sword of Kusanagi. And yet Kyo Kusanagi was himself already down for the count, having sustained major injuries at the hands of Yagami in thrall to awoken Orochi power.
Some time has passed since then.
The series of incidents cast doubt over whether another King of Fighters tournament would even happen.
But, thanks to persistent promotion by an unknown party, KOF is indeed back—and on an unprecedented scale.
An illustrious display of mixed martial arts, with the world as its stage—mass media everywhere gears up to document the extraordinary show of events..
And then, fighters all across the world begin to receive invitations. The sender's name is equally shocking and nostalgic: "R."

The home console version of KOF XIII was immensely popular.
The stage has now been moved to the arcade, where fierce battles take place.
KOF XIII has been selected for many e-Sports events in various parts of the world, with the home console version gaining massive popularity. Now, KOF XIII has been reintroduced to arcades to provide even more intense and heated battles, while maintaining the game's unique system and balance. Five characters that were only available in the home version have been added: Billy Kane, Saiki (before his transformation), NESTS Style Kyo, Iori (who has regained his flame), and Mr. Karate.
