This is the twelfth title of the KOF series. It’s a title modified around the theme of “KOF RE-BIRTH,” and was developed to provide the ultimate battle tool void of story lines. Along with achieving unprecedentedly beautiful and smooth 2-D pixel graphics, the knockout-elimination team battles of the original replace the free-substitution battles of the previous title to fulfill our concept of offering “the most supreme 2-D competitive fighting game ever.” Intensify the thrill of bandying blows and moves using new elements like the “Critical Counter” that appears during close combat, the “Guard Attack” which allows players to neutralize all types of blows, and “Deadlock” which arises when two attacks of a greater power than strong attacks collide.
